Home Minister V. Anitha said that large-scale projects in steel, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, data centres, toy manufacturing, and other sectors are expected to bring in massive investments and create lakhs of employment opportunities in Anakapalli district. She stated that during the tenure of the NDA government, nine major industries had been established in the district, with investments totalling ₹4,166.48 crore, providing employment to 8,685 people.
She was speaking at the district-level Independence Day celebrations held at Anakapalli on Saturday (August 15, 2026). District Collector Vijaya Krishnan, Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha, and others were present.
Delivering her address, Ms. Anitha outlined the industrial growth and investment potential of the district and highlighted the initiatives being undertaken by the State government to promote industries, generate employment and strengthen the local economy. She stated that as many as 134 major industries had attracted investments of ₹47,961 crore and generated employment for 75,797 people. Proposals for another 37 major industries, involving investments of around ₹2.28 lakh crore, were also in various stages of consideration and development.
The proposed AM/NS steel plant at Rajayyapeta, is one of the biggest projects coming up in the district, involving an estimated investment of ₹1.36 lakh crore and is expected to provide employment opportunities to nearly one lakh people. The ReNew solar project at Rambilli is another major investment initiative, involving an investment of ₹5,400 crore and is expected to generate employment for more than 2,100 people. The government is also focusing on the pharmaceutical sector, with the Bulk Drug Park being developed at Nakkapalli, spread over 2,001.8 acres with an investment of ₹1,876.66 crore
She also stated that MSME sector was witnessing considerable growth. As many as 5,299 MSMEs were established during 2025-26, while another 1,534 MSMEs were established during 2026-27, creating employment opportunities and strengthening the district’s small and medium-scale industrial base. Seven MSME parks had been proposed in the district, with work on two parks already commencing and five others in various stages of establishment.
Meanwhile, the 80th Independence Day celebrations were held in patriotic fervour at the Talari Singi School grounds in Paderu, the headquarters of Alluri Sitharama Raju district, on Saturday. District Collector Nishanthi T. hoisted the national flag and received the ceremonial salute from the police contingent. Addressing the gathering, she presented the district’s progress report, detailing the development works, welfare programmes, and achievements made by various government departments. The Collector highlighted the initiatives being implemented for the overall development and welfare of the people of the tribal-majority district and outlined the progress achieved in different sectors.
Family members of freedom fighters from the district were felicitated by the Collector with shawls and mementoes in recognition of the sacrifices made by their families and in remembrance of those who fought for the country’s freedom.
